Yann Arthus-Bertrand (Parijs, 13 maart 1946) is een Franse fotograaf, journalist en ecoloog.
Jeugd
Hij wordt geboren in een juweliersfamilie. Al vroeg toont hij interesse voor de natuur en dieren. In 1963 begint hij op 17-jarige leeftijd aan een filmcarrière: eerst als realisatie-assistent en later als acteur. Zo speelt hij naast Michèle Morgan in Dis-moi qui tuer van Étienne Périer in 1965 en in OSS 117 prend des vacances van Pierre Kalfon in 1970.
Hij verlaat de filmwereld en start de dierentuin Saint-Augustin in het midden van Frankrijk.
Fotografische carrière
In 1976 trouwt hij op dertigjarige leeftijd en trekt met zijn echtgenote Anne naar Kenia. Daar verblijft hij in het nationaal Masai Mara Park waar hij gedurende drie jaar een leeuwenfamilie observeert. Dagelijks maakt hij foto’s van deze leeuwenfamilie en ontdekt zo zijn passie voor de fotografie. Hij trekt geregeld de luchtballon in om de omgeving vanuit de lucht te verkennen en maakt zo zijn eerste luchtfoto’s.
In 1981 keert hij terug naar Frankrijk en publiceert het fotoboek Leeuwen in 1983 . Hij wordt journalist, reporter en fotograaf, gespecialiseerd in grote reportages rond de thema’s sport, natuur, dieren en luchtfotografie. Deze foto’s verkoopt hij aan National Geographic, Paris-Match en Géo. Hij verslaat 10 rally’s van Parijs-Dakar, geeft jaarlijks een boek uit over het toernooi Roland-Garros en fotografeert de internationale landbouwsalon in Parijs. Hij maakt ook foto’s van natuurliefhebbers met een visie zoals Diane Fossey en haar berggorilla’s in Rwanda.
Ecologische visie
In 1991 richt hij het agence Altitude op, het eerste agentschap dat een fotobank aanlegt van luchtfoto’s. Deze fotobank bevat in 2006 300.000 luchtfoto’s, genomen tijdens meer dan 3000 vluchturen waarbij meer dan honderd landen werden overvlogen.
In 1994 begint hij onder het peterschap van de Unesco een inventaris aan te leggen van de mooiste landschappen gezien vanuit de lucht. Deze inventaris krijgt de titel La Terre vue du ciel (de Aarde bekeken vanuit de hemel) met als credo: Getuigen van de schoonheid van de Aarde en proberen de Aarde te beschermen. Van zijn boek met dezelfde titel worden meer dan 3 miljoen exemplaren verkocht in 24 talen.
Op 1 juli 2005 richt hij de ecologische associatie GoodPlanet op en hij start een actie onder de naam Action Carbone, waarmee hij de verontreiniging door zijn eigen luchtfotografie wil compenseren. Deze actie financiert projecten die zich richten op hernieuwbare en duurzame energie en herbebossing.
Op 31 mei 2006 werd hij benoemd Officier in het Franse Legioen van Eer en hij werd, samen met Lucien Clergue, een van de eerste twee fotografen die lid worden van de sectie fotografie van de Académie des Beaux-Arts de l’Institut de France.
Er wordt ook een tentoonstelling georganiseerd waarop zijn foto’s in groot formaat worden getoond. Deze tentoonstelling La Terre vue du Ciel vindt plaats in meerdere steden, waaronder aan de hekken van de Jardin du Luxembourg in Parijs en ook in Lyon, Rouen en Montreal.
In 2006 organiseert hij een pedagogisch project Duurzame ontwikkeling, waarom?, samen met diverse Franse ministeries. Een tentoonstelling van 22 luchtfoto’s op posterformaat wordt ter beschikking gesteld van alle Franse scholen. Deze tentoonstelling wordt in 2007 herhaald, ditmaal met als thema biodiversiteit.
In oktober 2006 wordt de eerste aflevering van de natuurdocumentairereeks Vu du Ciel uitgezonden op de Franse televisiezender France 2. De reeks wordt in Vlaanderen op Eén uitgezonden onder de naam De Aarde vanuit de hemel. Het derde seizoen kwam in Frankrijk en Vlaanderen in 2010 op het scherm.

Armand Amar (Jeruzalem, 1953) is een Franse componist.
Zijn moeder is Israëlische en zijn vader een Joodse Marokkaan met Frans paspoort. Als kind is hij met zijn vader geëmigreerd naar Marokko. Al sinds zijn jeugd was hij geïnteresseerd in meerdere muziekstijlen en leerde zichzelf verschillende instrumenten te bespelen. Eerst conga’s, later ook tombak. Hij bezocht leraren om zijn kennis te verfijnen. Op uitnodiging van de Zuid-Afrikaanse choreograaf Peter Goss in 1976, kwam hij in aanraking met dans en ontmoette hij acteur Patrice Chereau.
Zijn werken zijn vaak gericht op oosterse muziek en is hij auteur van meerdere balletten en soundtracks. Ook heeft hij samengewerkt met Costa-Gavras.
Met de Franse componist Alain Weber en Peter Gabriel richtte hij in 1994 een eigen muziekuitgeverij op.

“I am deeply taken with traditional music, it moves me, it connects you to emotion.
The idea with HUMAN was to create songs that would reflect the same emotion generated by the interviews. I wanted things to open up, to open up one’s heart, to let the sadness be without any restraint. HUMAN has been one of these rare moments in my life as a film composer during which I could express all these different cultures at the same time : either working on minimalist songs or meeting with these singers and musicians coming from all around the world. Which note did I first produce ? I had more like a global vision in mind, an atmosphere that would merge into the film and that would bring people together, this was my starting point. The part I created for the Mongolian sequence might be the best summary of the atmosphere I wanted the film to have.
Yann has given me a particular role as a film composer that is very diffrent from the one other directors usually give me. There is a strong friendship between us, an intimate relationship. He’s generous. You follow him because of his fantastic instinct, I can advise on the artistic process being in a way the first audience.”

Michael Pitiot (born 14 July 1970) is a French screenwriter and film director. He lives and works in France.
Michael Pitiot shot his first reportages in Zaïre in 1991. He was then recruited as audiovisual attaché at the French embassy in Vietnam, responsible for cooperation with radio and television in Ho Chi Minh City, a position he occupied from 1993 to 1998.
From 1998 to 2000, he travelled back to France aboard a Chinese junk christened Sao Mai and specially built for the journey, with Marielle Laheurte and a team of 30 volunteers from widely differing backgrounds (including the former naval lieutenant Pierre Guillaume, also known as Crabe-Tambour). He produced a documentary for France2 and wrote two accounts of this expedition.
From 2001 to 2003, alongside senior reporter Arnaud de la Grange, he organised a circumnavigation of Africa with 12 well-known writers including Erik Orsenna, Jean-Marie Gustave Le Clézio and Jean-Christophe Rufin. He also directed a documentary series on this literary and journalistic voyage entitled Portes d’Afrique, for Arte. In 2003, he filmed a road movie through the former Soviet empire in Super8 with Laurent Lepesant that took him to Afghanistan. In 2004 he wrote an account of a voyage to Bhutan to discover its temple carpenter-builders with the illustrator Cloé Fontaine, who later became his wife.
Starting in 2006, he wrote a film script with journalist Daniel Duhand on the forgotten history of the «Poilus d’Alaska» (huskies) in 1915. The same year he joined Tara Expéditions to develop documentaries of its mission. In parallel, in 2009 he published a history of piracy, illustrated by Ségolène Marbach. In 2010, he produced a documentary series in four episodes for France Télévisions on the Tara Oceans mission, co-written with Thierry Ragobert and Frédéric Lossignol and with original music by Gérard Cohen-Tannugi.
Shortly afterwards he met the ecologist and photographer Yann Arthus Bertrand, with whom he co-produced Planet Ocean,[1] a feature-length documentary about man and the ocean. This film, produced thanks to the support of the Omega brand, won the Best Cinematography Award at the Monterey Blue Festival (California, USA).[2][3] This was the first film produced during a four-year collaboration which also gave birth to three new feature-length documentaries with Yann Arthus-Bertrand: Méditerranée[4] in 2013, which looks at the development of human civilisations in the Mediterranean basin, with the voice of Gérard Darmon and Hiam Abbass ; Algérie, an emotional journey to the heart of Algeria, narrated by Jalil Lespert. The film was aired in France and Algeria the same day in July 2015 ; and TERRA,[5] the sequel of Planet Ocean, a film dedicated to the story of mankind and life, narrated by Vanessa Paradis. Terra was premiered in December 2015 for the COP21 and available worldwide on Netflix by 2016.
